Supercharging Local Nonprofit Leaders

Through the Ready to Grow Peer Learning and Coaching Cohort, BIPOC-led and/or serving organizations have an opportunity to participate in a free, year-long program aimed at strengthening nonprofit leaders and their organizations.

The goal of this cohort is to strengthen the ability of small nonprofits to impact the communities they serve through dialogue, coaching, organizational assessments, and access to resources. Nonprofits selected to participate in this cohort must have annual revenues of less than $1M.

Cohort facilitators will focus on the unique sustainability issues of small nonprofits, and on facilitating honest conversation among leaders, coaches and funders.

Assessments

At the end of the initiative, selected participants will:

  Identify their primary capacity needs/investment opportunities through targeted assessment
  Engage in candid discussions about sustainability challenges
  Build a sustainability plan
  Raise awareness of their mission with regional funders
  Be better connected to capacity building resources and to their peers
  Be stronger, financially resilient small businesses in Orange County

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered, organizations must:

  Be a 501c3 nonprofit, or a fiscally sponsored nonprofit project
  Conduct a majority of their operations in Orange County, California
  Have an annual budget of less than $1M
  Be BIPOC-led and/or serving

“BIPOC-led” is defined as meeting at least one of the following criteria:

  The CEO is a BIPOC;
  A majority of the senior staff are BIPOC;
  A majority of the board of directors are BIPOC.

“BIPOC-serving” is defined as the primary population served by the organization.

For consideration to the cohort, applications were due no later than Friday, November 19, 2021 at 5PM PST.

The cohort will run from January 2022 to October 2022.

Applications are accepted through November 19th, and applicants will be notified in December 2021.

This is a special peer learning cohort that has been designed to provide coaching and planning supports, in addition to valuable organizational assessments. The end result will be a significant increase in understanding of your organization’s potential for growth, and a plan to get there. To achieve these goals, selected organizations will be asked to attend regular cohort meetings with other leaders, complete three organizational assessments, and meet with a specialized coach regularly across the year-long program. We recognize that organizations are extremely busy and participation is not intended to be an additional burden on organizations, but a valuable addition to capacity and planning.

No. Thanks to the Wells Fargo Open for Business Fund, participation is completely free to up to 25 selected organizations.

We welcome all Orange County nonprofits to participate in the resource portal and workshop series. Cohort participation is limited to organizations that serve or are led by BIPOC individuals.

Participation in the cohort program is limited to organizations that are primarily operating in Orange County. Other organizations are welcome to participate in the resource portal.
